Zero waste and sustainable use of leftovers are top priorities in our Cologne studio. To give something back, we donate 50% of the net proceeds of our upcycling bookmarks and 25% of the net proceeds of our fruit bowls to the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wälder. We took a closer look at Gut Leidenhausen and the surrounding area, have a look.
The Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald is a legally recognised nature conservation association for which the forest has been the focus of its voluntary work since 1947. The aim is to preserve the forest and to strengthen our environmental awareness. The SDW achieves this through a wide range of activities that bring people and nature closer together. The focus here is primarily on children and young people. In addition to the forest school and the beautiful nature, Gut Leidenhausen also has a bird of prey sanctuary, a wildlife reserve, forest nature trails, a café, a museum and many other exciting activities and events.
Tree planting has been part of SDW's activitiesforover 70 years. More than 100,000 trees are planted every year in the largest participatory action on Arbor Day. The spectrum ranges from planting seedlings to stately trees in cities or along avenues.
Many tree plantings are only made possible by the commitment of sponsors. The Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald relies on volunteers and sponsors all year round to be able to do enough to protect Cologne's forests. They offer an extensive annual programme with a wide variety of campaigns and events on the topic of forests.
During our visit we got an overview of the work of the Schutzgemeinschaft. When we arrived at Hofgut Leidenhausen, we immediately felt the relaxing tranquillity of nature. The estate, which used to be a knight's seat, has been owned by the city of Cologne since 1963 and is one of the oldest testimonies to the village of Eil and the city of Cologne. Starting with the wild bee experience trail, through the bird of prey sanctuary, to various open spaces where fruit, vegetables, flowers and trees are planted. The Hofgut and the surrounding grounds are ideal for a day trip to escape the hustle of the city. Mindfulness trails and the possibility of forest bathing are also part of the SDW's diverse offer. We are happy to be part of this nature conservation association and to support it with our donations.
With the following picture gallery we hope to give you some inspiration to visit Gut Leidenhausen, to feel a piece of nature and to think about a donation or a voluntary action as a company activity or something similar.
